Goleta Valley Beautiful continues to provide support to the Goleta Union School District with tree care events, and presentations at our schools’ Family Science Nights 전자정부프레임워크 pdf 다운로드. Tree Care Events

Thanks to the more than 40 volunteers who contributed over 100 community service hours at the Goleta Valley Beautiful tree care events at La Patera, Kellogg, Brandon, Elementary Schools in February 다운로드.

Volunteers provided tree care for 70 trees planted by GVB over the last ten years. Tree care services included structural pruning and canopy raising, tree stake and tie removal, weeding and transporting pruned material for disposal 다운로드. On selected trees, volunteers placed tags identifying dollar values of tree benefits according to the National Tree Benefit Calculator (www.treebenefits.com).

Volunteer groups participating included UCSB Sigma Alpha Zeta and Los Prietos Boys Camp.

Sponsors for the event included UCSB Coastal Fund, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, California ReLeaf, Devereux, Goleta Union School District, and hundreds of GVB donor members.

Family Science Night Support

Volunteers from Goleta Valley Beautiful also contributed 27 community service hours at the Goleta Valley Beautiful Science Fun with Tree demonstrations at Foothill and Brandon Elementary Family Science Nights!

Volunteers demonstrated Project Learning Tree-related tree science principles as part of 5 different activity centers: dendrochronology, the acorn float test, microscopic leaf examination of 20+ different tree species from the Foothill campus, leaf rubbing, and leaf printing.

An estimated 350 Foothill and Brandon Elementary students and parents participated in the events.

Goleta Valley Beautiful is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization that is funded by grants and donations from the community.  GVB relies upon the volunteer and financial support of the community to continue providing valuable public services.  GUSD is pleased to have the support of Goleta Valley Beautiful organizers and volunteers.
